Tanjung Priok Port Police Reveals Case of Inter-island Lobster Seed Smuggling

JAKARTA FORUM NUSANTARA, Tanjung Priok Port Police have successfully uncovered a case of smuggling of fried shrimp (Lobster Seed) between the islands of Java and Sumatra on Sunday, July 11, 2021. From this disclosure, three smugglers were arrested. (11/7/2021)
The three suspects, each with the initials UJ (40), N (39), and R (20), were detained by officers at Muara Angke Port when they were trying to bring the fried shrimp to the island of Sumatra.
In this disclosure, the police confiscated the main evidence in the form of 11 boxes of Styrofoam containing a total of 61,398 fry .

Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Putu Kholis Aryana, SIK said that the disclosure of this smuggling case began when officers found suspicious vehicles and activities.
“Officers saw the three suspects transferring styrofoam from one car to another. Then the officers searched it, it turned out that there were a number of plastic packages containing lobster seeds or fry,” said Kholis at the Tanjung Priok Port Police Headquarters (13/7/2021).

After conducting a search, the police asked the three suspects to show documents related to the delivery of the fries. However, the three suspects could not show the requested documents.
The police immediately took the three to the Tanjung Priok Harbor Police for inspection. From the results of the examination, the suspects got the fries from the Sukabumi area, West Java.
“These suspects are from Sukabumi and Lampung. It is indicated that they will bring these lobster seeds to Sumatra Island to be sent abroad, by sea from Sumatra,” said Kholis.
For their actions that violated the law, the three suspects were charged with Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph 1 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Fisheries.
“This includes groups that facilitate or help us apply Article 55 of the Criminal Code. The threat is up to 5 years in prison,” he said.
